CSUSA Media Library: Session Details

Session Name: The EU Copyright Package: Platform Liability and Text and Data Mining
MeetingType: Mid-Winter Meeting
Date: 02/11/17
Description: In September 2016, the EU Commission published a set of proposals on the modernization of copyright. This initiative commonly known as the EU Copyright Package represents a wide-ranging package of reforms, including regulations dealing with the online transmission and retransmission of television and radio programs and with the creation, use, and distribution of copies of works in formats accessible to the blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print disabled. Most notoriously, it includes a Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market: a comprehensive set of proposals aimed at modernizing copyright to facilitate wider online availability of content across the EU, adapting exceptions and limitations to the digital world, and achieving a well-functioning copyright marketplace.
